And to just add something which generally gets forgotten. Since Version 
7, Windows maintains the Previous Versions of Files.

So right click on the file in question, choose Properties and click the 
Previous versions tab. If you are really lucky and a recent restore 
point has occurred then you might be able to get back an old copy of the 
file.

Also if you have a raid system in place with shadow volume copying, then 
you might also be able to recover the files from there as well.

Of course I should not need to tell you that you should make a 
copy/backup of the entire database folder as is before doing this.

And for the record, NEVER delete files unless you have a second copy of 
them/backup, and that means for all time.

For example, in our industry backups need to be kept for 6 years taken 
on at the very least a monthly cycle.
