If you have a good PostgreSQL Administration program such as EMS SQL
Manager (the Lite version is free) you can do it through the admin.
Just to play it safe, I always do a full database backup (including data
and structure for the whole cluster) of the old version and then just
restore into an empty cluster. They say you don't have to do this but I
once got the conversion sript to crash and destroy my database (very
early version) so I don't trust it any more.
