the BDE itself doesn't show up in task manager, paradox does

and speaking of compatibility mode.. had a machine this week with the win10 
latest-and-greatest.. somebody set the icon to xp compatibility mode, to see 
if it would run faster, which made p10 not see the network drives

Is that Leslie's BDE installer? If so, IRC, the BDE parameters are set
to what they should be, generally, for modern Windows. So it does appear
that the BDE settings were the culprit. I recall Rodney Wise hacked the
parameters down to a set of starting values that should be tried first.
I can't find them at the moment but I think there's an .ini file in the
installer that has them all listed.
