As many has said - this shouldn't be a problem.
For example, it is very common to use NAS-devices as a fileserver. The
NAS is probably running some kind of Linux OS.
A Windows PC can see the shares on the NAS and you can then put the
Paradox tables on the NAS - without having Paradox or Windows installed
on the NAS.
Your questionss about the queries being remote or locally should be
irrelevant as they have no meaning for queries agains Paradox tables.
