SetRange replaced SetFilter, but they both give the same results

yeah, I could change to SetGenFilter, but I'm trying to figure out why
it's happening, to understand it if it's happening someplace else

just a raw tableframe with only a handful of the table's fields, used
for one particular purpose.. I can cut/paste the code back and forth
from other places, behavior stays the same, where it is, either way

thing is, and you both probably know this, is that
SetRange(filter, filter) or SetFilter(filter, filter) acts the same as a
Zoom "filter.." search, which is what I want here

they have a slightly-off way that they've built the customer names and
most part descriptions, and they usually want that built-in pattern
search functionality, and the way it's implemented across the app

it's been that way for about 20 years, and half the folks here have been
there most of that time, and that's the way they want it to work

it just doesn't work in this one place :-)
