Fabio,
I'm not sure about the latest and greatest, but a NAS usaully runs
Linux, with SAMBA handling the networking. With Paradox, you need to
enable SMB1 protocol so SAMBA has to run in compatibility mode. I've
always found a NAS to be slower and have seen a couple installed to
handle Paradox systems because they had a mix of old computers (XP) and
new computers (Win10). Their old computers were getting way past their
use-by date so they wanted a plan where their data would be safe if
their old computers joined the choir invisible. This is also possible
with the solution below but they couldn't afford the appropriate server
and Windows license. The NAS was much cheaper.
It's better to have a Windows10 server with automatic backup acting as a
server for Paradox files. But don't use this computer for user access.
Keep in mind that even the latest SSD drives have a limited life, much
lower (in testing) than the manufacturers say. So I recommend not to use
them for file servers where a lot of disk writes and deletes occur.
