OK, after 5 hours of sleep I'm somewhat recovered...  Here are the 
systems we use in place of Paradox (we're an independent microbiological 
testing laboratory - which means we do things called "lab studies"):

1) MasterControl for controlled documents (we took this feature out eons 
ago).

2) ADP for vacation accrual and recording time off (we've used multiple 
systems since we took this out of Paradox ages ago)

3) UNIFlow by UNIConnect (a browser-based process automation app, which 
I really like) for collection of laboratory and quality data and 
generation of lab reports (the latter with MS SQL Server Reporting 
Services).  We've been using this for years.

4) (last night) MS CRM for tracking of study events (dates, basically) 
and other details (collectively, all the functions it performs are 
called "Study Tracking" - which is a lot like other companies might do 
with quotes and orders).

5) A few little things have been migrated to spreadsheets and a Joomla 
instance that's ancient (they made me hack the core of various products, 
thus making it un-upgradeable - there's a lesson for you - if they asked 
me to do that again, I'd refuse).

After another 6 hours helping them pull data they forgot to pull and 
generally waiting for them to say "we're done", I think I'm done. 
Pretty sure those are the primary ways we've migrated from Paradox.  (If 
not, my brain is too fried to know the difference.)
