I've never been able to use the query builder. It has crashed on me
since the beginning of Paradox time (P9 anyway).
I built my own query building form. Fairly easy to do. Plus it knows
how to quickly insert things like Joins.
Maybe there is some other file extension it doesn't like? What the hell
is it trying to do with xml files that would cause it to crash?
