In 2003 I worked on just such a system with VB6 and SQL Server. It would 
use Abby to process a scanned document and saveit tp SQL Server, indexed 
and ready for searching, including the image. It was a complex mix of 
system calls and API calls between Abby and VB6.

So from what I know about Paradox, the answer is No.
