Hi
I am having a bit of a dog of a problem with W10 and the BDE
I am trying to bring a W10 laptop into our network and need it to share
a NETFILE with the other PDOX clients.
I uses the same drive mapping as all the other (non-W10) clients and
ostensibly the same cfg file but that is where I am getting strange
results.
In paradox, the settings in Preferences | Database and Preferences |
BDE all look fine.
But I get errors when running my main startup form
Error
The system cannot find the file :penta:___posn_summary.db
OK
and a further 3 errors list 3 other tables that it "cannot find". All 4
of the tables DO exist btw.
All 4 of these tables are deployed from the :penta: alias to the :priv:
alias in the form INIT method, after a disabledefault. The deployment
works fine on other non-W10 machines.
Once deployed (post- DODEFAULT ) they should become part of the form
data model.
But I get another error:
Paradox
cannot open :WORK:my_table.db
You have attempted to open a database that is in use by someone else,
but the database cannot be shared. You must set the location for the
.NET control file
Do you want to replace :WORK:my_table.db
That says to me that there is a BDEADMIN problem.
If i run the BDE Admin .cpl file it seems to run ok and there is
nothing much wrong with the settings. But bif I try to save the config,
BDEADMIN crashes. Sounds like a permission problem to me.
What can I do about this problem?
